What is special about St. Andrew Catholic School?

Parents, Students, Faculty, and Parish community are the main groups that work in partnership at St. Andrew Catholic School. All groups collaborate to help our students in developing strong spiritual, academic, social and emotional values. This in turn will assist them in becoming contributing members of society and to go forth to serve others. How can I arrange a visit to your school?

We invite families to visit St. Andrew during our Catholic Schools Week Open House as well as during the Book Fair Open House which is scheduled each semester.  Individual visits may be scheduled throughout the year by scheduling an appointment with our admissions coordinator. These visits to our campus provide the best way to explore all that St. Andrew Catholic School offers!

The Admission Office hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Weekly campus tours are generally scheduled by appointment.

Are you accepting applications for the current school year?

The registration process is underway. However, we have limited openings.   For more specific information regarding availability please contact the admissions coordinator to discuss availability at your child’s grade level.

How do I apply?

The application process for your child requires that you first complete an application and enclose your child’s most recent report card and standardized test scores. 

Admission Testing:

We require admission testing for candidates at all grade levels.

Pre-Kindergarten – Pre-Kindergarten candidates are individually screened. This process takes approximately thirty minutes. After submitting an application, please schedule the screening with the admissions coordinator.  The office will confirm your appointment via email. Applicants must be 4 years old before September 1st. for the Pre-k4 Program.

Kindergarten / 1st Grade – Kindergarten and First grade candidates must be 5 (for Kindergarten) and 6 (for First Grade) years old before September 1st. All Kindergarten and First grade applicants are tested for admission. The child will take an academic assessment and participate in a playgroup that simulates a classroom experience.

2nd-8th Grade – All 2nd – 8th grade applicants are tested for admission as deemed necessary.

Do you give preferential treatment to any applicant?

Every admission decision is predicated upon the question: Can this student be successful at St. Andrew Catholic School? After answering that question affirmatively, we give priority to siblings of existing students, children of faculty members, alumni and students who were in our waiting pool the previous year.

Do you offer financial aid?

St. Andrew Catholic School accepts the Step Up for Students and the 4C scholarships. McKay scholarships are also accepted on a limited basis determined by which services can be offered by the school. Please visit www.stepupforstudents.org

In addition, SACS offers financial aid to families with students in grades 1st-8th.  Financial aid awards are based strictly on 1) financial need of the family, as demonstrated through the FACTS Tuition Management Program for Financial Aid application and a review of the parents’ last 1040 tax form and 2) financial aid funds available.  Families applying for financial aid must file the FACTS form according to the deadlines.  St. Andrew Catholic School’s Financial Aid Committee makes its decisions early in June.  All financial aid applications are held in the strictest confidence.

Are your teachers certified?

Yes, all of our teachers hold a teaching certificate from the Florida Department of Education.

Are there any Teacher Assistants?

Yes, we have full time and part time Teacher Assistants in some classes.

Do you offer foreign language?

We offer Spanish to all of our students.

Where do you get the uniforms?

Uniforms are available through Dennis Uniform Company, for your shopping convenience this is a local store. A brochure is available to help you with the selection of uniform for your children. Shoes should be solid black. The uniform website is www.dennisuniform.com and our school code is E3N.

Are there any after school programs?

St. Andrew is Home of the “Spartans”

Middle School students represent St. Andrew Catholic School in the Catholic Middle School Athletic Conference (CMAC). Students have the opportunity to participate in Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, and Track with other schools in the Diocese of Orlando. Kindergarten through 5th Grade students represent St. Andrew Catholic School in the Catholic Youth Sports (CYS). Students have the opportunity to participate in Track, Soccer, Basketball, Football, and Lacrosse. Other extra-curricular programs include Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies, Band, Choir, and Bell Choir. Please visit www.catholicyouthsports.org for more information on programs.

Do you offer an Extended Day Care program?

We offer an early morning drop off that starts at 6:30 am until 7:20 am. The Extended Day Care program is from 3:20 pm until 6:00 pm. Enrollment fee and monthly payments apply.

Do you offer lunch?

Students can purchase a nutritional lunch from our school cafeteria or bring a bag lunch from home. Snacks may also be brought from home.

Admissions - Additional Information

Admissions Policy

Children entering first grade must be six (6) on or before September 1st and must have successfully completed kindergarten. Children entering kindergarten must be five (5) years old on or before September 1st of the school year. All students entering the pre-school program must be toilet trained prior to the start of school

Students entering St. Andrew Catholic School in grades 1 to 8 for the first time must have successfully completed the entire, previous grade in an accredited school program. Prospective new students and their parents will be interviewed prior to their acceptance.

All new students will be accepted on a probationary basis for a nine-week period. This is to ascertain a pupil’s ability to adjust to the school philosophy and program. Tests are administered to new students to determine placement. A record of conduct and general ability is required before acceptance to St. Andrew Catholic School.

Parents of returning students are required to submit a completed re-registration packet with the appropriate fees.  All financial obligations and volunteer service requirements for the school year must be current in order to re-register. The school administration and the pastor reserve the right to admit and readmit students to St. Andrew Catholic School.

Immunization Policy

The State of Florida Department of Health mandates that all students must comply with the immunizations requirements for enrollment in school. Timely notices are sent to parents to enforce compliance with the regulations.Students will not be allowed to begin classes without an up-to-date immunization record on file with student records.

Tuition Cost and Scholarships

Tuition

Tuition should be paid in FULL for the school year by June 15th. Payment should be made directly to St. Andrew Catholic School. ATTN: Finance Department

In addition, a $260 registration fee (non-refundable) per child is assessed.

Any plan other than paying the tuition IN FULL must be paid with an agreement through the FACTS Tuition Management Program.

Please note that this tuition rate is all-inclusive: tuition, books, and technology fees are all covered. As with the past few years, staffing will be equal to enrollment. Academics, sports, and arts programs have been increased, not eliminated. The pastoral staff, as well as the faculty and administration of St. Andrew Catholic School, recognize that our students are not responsible for the state of the economy and their education remains our priority.

Without fiscal stability, St. Andrew Catholic School cannot continue to provide students with a high quality Catholic education. Fiscal stability is only possible with the cooperation of all families involved. The School Finance Committee of the School Board, in an effort to ensure that needed operational funds derived from tuition be both timely and sufficient, utilizes a policy concerning late or overdue payments. Anytime a problem arises with tuition not paid through FACTS, this committee is notified and action is taken accordingly.

Parents sign an agreement each year to follow these guidelines. This policy is intended to serve the needs of the entire community.

Academic and Conduct Requirements

For placement purposes, students are required to be screened for academic competency by a member of our Guidance Staff.  Academic and conduct records from previous years are requested for further evaluation by the Principal and Director of Guidance.  

Conditions for Admission:

Admission/Readmission is subject to the following conditions:

  • Support of the rules and policies of the school.  All students must have up-to-date state-required immunizations
  • All financial obligations must be fulfilled and up to date
  • Contribution of at least 20 hours of service to the school during the school year
  • Support of all mandatory fundraising efforts sponsored by the school and its Parent Teacher Committee
  • Each family is expected to raise a minimum of $100.00 for mandatory fundraising activities during the school year
